Nigeria U20 skipper Abduljaleel Ajagun has signed a four-year contract with top Greek club Panathinaikos after prolonged negotiations.
Dolphins will receive a transfer fee of 200,000 Euros and Pana have promised to pay this within the week.
A top source told MTNFootball.com: “Panathinaikos and Dolphins have reached an agreement over the transfer of Ajagun to Greece today (Tuesday). The player has even resumed training with Pana.”
Ajagun’s signing was delayed for several days after Pana insisted on an exhaustive medical for the clever central midfielder.
Expert: Ajagun to play regularly for Pana
“At a time the player had even given up hope he will sign for the club,” another source informed MTNFootball.com
Amid these speculations and uncertainties, Ajagun featured for the club in a test game against the Panathinaikos U21 side on Monday, playing 40 minutes.
Ajagun featured at the recent U20 World Cup in Turkey, scoring three goals as the Flying Eagles reached the Round of 16 before they were eliminated by Uruguay.
Thereafter, several clubs from Turkey and Croatia were keen to sign him before he opted for Panathinaikos, who are expected to give him a decent run in the first team because they now have a young squad caused by their financial problems.
