The country of France has officially outlawed beauty contests for little girls who are under 16 years old.
Their upper house of parliament voted on the issue to stop the “hypersexualization” of the kiddos.
Nicolas Sarkozy, the brother of Mary-Kate Olsen’s boyfriend, brought the issue to the Sénat in a gender equality bill, and it passed after being revised.
People who don’t follow the “Mini-Miss” pageants law could get a $40,056 fine and up to two years in prison.
This seems to be a hump that was hard to get over because some people in government felt that the punishment was too steep.
