Liverpool's Victor Moses (right) celebrates scoring his sides second goal of the game with team-mate Phillippe Coutinho
Victor Moses scores his debut goal for Liverpool in 2-2 away draw at Swansea to keep them top of the log.
Moses was on target in the 36th minute to give Liverpool a 2-1 halftime lead away to Swansea.
However,
the Super Eagles night was eclipsed by ex-Liverpool midfielder Jonjo
Shelvey who played an instrumental part in all four goals on the night.
Shelvey
put Swansea ahead in the second minute after a rugged run down the
right flank to beat Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.
Two
minutes later, Shelvey poor back pass obligingly fell into the path of
Daniel Sturridge who made no mistake to fire his shot passed Michel
Vorm.
It got from bad to worse for
Shelvey who, with another poor pass, gifted Moses the ball who then ran
half the field, picked to his spot, giving Vorm no chance.
Moses’ goal was his first since joining Liverpool on loan deal from Chelsea this season.
Swansea
returned from the break in a very businesslike mood but with Shelvey
still looking downcast after a forgettable first half.
But Shelvey redeemed himself in the 64th minute when he placed the ball into Michu's path to equalize for oSwansea.
The
midfielder had another chance to complete his confidence building
exercise with a brace in the 72 forced from a free kick but Mignolet was
alert to the danger.
Meanwhile, the
result ends Liverpool’s one hundred percent start to the new season but
it takes them back to the top of the table one clear of the pack on 10
points.
