It was a sunny day in West London on Sunday 3rd
day of May in Stamford Bridge the home ground of Chelsea Football Club, where
football loving fans trooped out in mass to witness what was tagged “EPL Game
of Fate”. Indeed the supporters of Chelsea fc had at the back of their mind
that the trophy would be wrapped up if only their team pick up the available 3
points requirement against Palace.
The supporters of Chelsea fc watched the game with anxiety
from the first kick of the ball as Crystal Palace took charge of the game in
the early minutes, at this point what must have been going on in the mind of the
supporters would have been that they will have to wait till next week to be
pronounced winners of the Barclays Premier League 2014/2015 due to the fact
that the match was not going as planned, Palace players brought all their
arsenal to the pitch, Alan Pardew the manager of Palace came into this game
possessing the best record against
Mourinho’s team after he led Newcastle to a win against Chelsea in the
early part of the season.
But despite winning the premier league for the record fifth
time, the “champions elect” have been criticized over the course of the season
for their brand of football, which has been deemed ‘boring’ in some quarters
and the Portuguese coach decided to respond to his critics after Sunday’s title
glory has he stressed that not winning a trophy in ten years should be deem
boring and not his team as touted by Arsenal fans.
The crowd in Stamford Bridge who were supporting “The Blues”
had a sigh of relief after Eden Hazard scored an header after missing the sport
kick earlier, at this point the owner of Chelsea fc Roman Abramovich had a
standing ovation in respect of the Belgian goal which actually meant that
Chelsea automatically becomes the champions of the English Premier League for
the fifth time in their 110 years history, after this goal “The Special One” as
he is fondly called made some changes that saw the introduction of Nigerian
Midfielder John Mikel Obi who has been sidelined for over two months, with his
introduction, stability was brought back into the Chelsea midfield as the Blues
enjoyed 70% possession of the ball, Mikel brought in something new according to
pundits as he made several efforts to score a goal, but statistics does not
favour him because he has only managed 5 shots on target in his last four
seasons for Chelsea fc in the Premier League , indeed this is worrisome for
Chelsea Nigerian supporters has the Africa’s Nations qualifiers is ongoing.

Chelsea’s premier league trophy triumph records are:
1954/1955, 2004/2005, 2005/2006, 2009/2010, and most recently 2014/2015 season.
After winning his 3rd premier league for Chelsea, Jose Mourinho has
redeemed his image after he finished the 2013/2014 season trophy-less, this got
tongue wagging that the Portuguese has lost his bite, but he proved many wrong
on Sunday after he led Chelsea to win the EPL with three games to go.
Mourinho’s recent success this season has been praised by his players as well
as other players and managers in the league, Manchester city goalkeeper Joe
Hart took to social media platform twitter to congratulate the Portuguese,
“Congratulations to Chelsea, its well deserved, great respect to them, but
we’ll be back next season. We’re going to be stronger”. He tweeted. Chelsea defender Cesar Azplicueta followed
suit, “I have made a lot of progress with Mourinho and it’s the most important
thing to learn with a man like him”. He tweeted. Other premier league managers
also congratulated Chelsea and Mourinho, from Sam Alardyce to Manuel Pellegrini
and a host of others.
Combining Jose Mourinho’s two spells in England, the
Portuguese win percentage is better than any manager in the Premier League
history, with some fans hoping that he stays as the greatest Barclays Premier
manager of all time; he has also enjoyed more success against Liverpool than
any other club in the league, losing once in 10 games, not to forget Jose’s
magnificent record against Arsenal as well, due to his success, the premier
league champions are set to offer him a new contract.
It can be recalled that before now Chelsea have been known
for not making profits every season, but this season was an exception as the
club made a lot of money through players sales, ranging from David Luiz who
they sold for 50 million pounds to PSG,
Romelu Lukaku and a host of others. With the buck of young players in
this present squad, Chelsea’s legend Petr Cech has suggested that the club will
dominant both the domestic and European level for a longer period of time.
In a related development the club legend Didier Drogba has
announced that he will not be plying his trade with the English champions come
2015/2016 season and the club hope they can find a suitable replacement for him
before the start of the new season, as the players are eager to go for a
quadruple this time.
