Just In: NFF Officials Stop Police Attempt To Arrest LMC Chairman

Chairman of League Management Company, (LMC), Shehu Dikko.

Officials of the Nigeria Football Federation, (NFF) stopped officials of the Nigerian Police Force, (NPF) from arresting the Chairman of League Management Company, (LMC), Shehu Dikko at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

According to Kwese Sports journalist, Collin Udoh, who broke the news on micro blogging site, Twitter, the two officials of the Nigerian Police Force, (NPF) were from Jos, the Plateau state capital.

Giving a breakdown of the scenario at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja in series of tweets, Mr. Udoh noted that the policemen shot in the air in a bit to prevent people around from taking photos of the event.

The incident happened few minutes after Mr. Dikko landed the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, with the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Udoh tweeted: "Two men claiming to be police officers were waiting at the airport attempting to arrest @ShehuDikko."

"The 2 men claiming to be police officers said they were from Jos but were foiled by @thenff officials, club owners and reporters".

" One of the so-called policemen pointed his side arm at @KCJine and shot in the air because he didn't want his picture taken #Disgraceful". Udoh tweeted.

Though the purpose of the attempted arrest has not yet been ascertained, it is believed to be unconnected with the ongoing legal battle between the League Management Company, (LMC) and Giwa Football Club of Jos.

Meanwhile, this is coming a day after Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike stopped operatives of the Department of State Services, (DSS) of arresting a judge in Port Harcourt, the Rives state capital.
