Eyitayo Jegede |
Recall that the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, on Wednesday, November 23, ordered theIndependent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to reinstate Eyitayo Jedede's name as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo state.
Justice Saulawa nullified the proceedings of October 14 when Justice Abang ruled in favour of Jimoh Ibrahim, who belongs to the Ali Modu Sheriff faction of the party.
The presiding Judge ruled that INEC erred in recognizing Jimoh Ibrahim, adding that Jegede was the candidate that should contest the November 26 governorship election.
Confirming the new development, a five-man panel led by the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen , today, Thursday, November 24, quashed all appeals challenging the decision of the Appellate Court which ordered the reinstatement of Jegede as the PDP candidate in the Ondo election.
