Breaking: Supreme Court Dismisses Suit By Sheriff, Jimoh Ibrahim

Jimoh Ibrahim and Ali Modu-Sheriff.

The Supreme Court of Nigeria, on Thursday, November 24, dismissed a suit filed by factional Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Senator Ali Modu Sheriff and erstwhile flag bearer of the party in the November 26 gubernatorial election in Ondo state, Jomoh Ibrahim.

Giving reason for its decision, the Apex Court said it could not hear the suit based on the initial arguments except the parties re-file it based on the ruling of the Court of Appeal on Tuesday.

Mr. Sheriff and Mr. Ibrahim are seeking their recognition as the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) and the party’s governorship candidate for the Ondo State  November 26, 2016  election respectively.

Recall the Justice Sualawa led panel of the  Appellate Court, on Wednesday, November 23, quashed their suits seeking to invalidate the National chairmanship of Senator Ahmed Makarfi and governorship candidacy of Eyitayo Jegede.

However  before that ruling, both Sheriff and Ibrahim had headed to the Supreme Court.
