The
Presidency on Thursday, November 17, revealed that it has not paid the salaries
and allowances of former Presidents of the federal Republic of Nigeria in the
last ten months.
These were
revealed to the Senators Thursday when the Senate Committee on of Federal
Character and Inter-Governmental Affairs, led by Senator Tijjani Kaura (APC,
Zamfara North) visited the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF.
The former
Presidents who have been affected non-payment
of salaries and allowances since January this year are ninety-one years old, Alhaji
Shehu Shagari, Olusegun Obasanjo; Goodluck Jonathan.
Others
are: former Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida, rtd; General
Abdulsalami Abubakar; General Yakubu Gowon and Chief Ernest Shonekan.
