Former
spokesman of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign organisation, Femi
Fani-Kayode has described the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB)
and Director of Radio Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu as a ' great and brilliant freedom
fighter'.
The
former Aviation Minister who recently regained his freedom after spending
twenty four days in the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) custody
and Kuje Maximum prison in Abuja, made this comment in a new article titled, ‘Head
bloodied but not bowed and the ascension of President-Elect Donald Trump’.
Speaking
on his meeting with the Biafran leader, the poet said: “When I went to visit the great
and brilliant freedom fighter, Nnamdi Kanu, who is the leader of IPOB and
easily the most courageous, powerful and credible Igbo leader in Nigeria
today in his cell we had a very instructive and long discussion".
Furthermore,
Mr. Fani-Kayode likened Mr. Nnamdi Kanu to the founder of Biafra, Chukwuemeka
Odumegwu Ojukwu and Nigeria's
first President, Nnamdi
Azikiwe.
In his
words, “I had never met Nnamdi before and I was amazed at his depth of
knowledge, his immense courage and his deep convictions. There is no doubt in
my mind that that man is going places and in him the Igbo have an Ojukwu and a
Nnamdi Azikiwe all rolled into one. He is destined for greatness". The
lawyer opined.
