Unsigned Afrika And May18Hype Presents Versus 'Change Begins With Me' Rap Contest

In a bid to connect Nigerian youths to the 'Change Begins With Me' campaign launched by the Federal Government, two entertainment media firms identified as May18Hype And Unsigned Afrika, have launched a rap contest tagged: Versus 'Change Begins With Me' Rap Contest.

The rap contest is actually a buildup program in support of the government campaign project on the need for Nigerian youths to have a change in behavior, which would in turn have a positive change in our country at large.

Few weeks after the flag off the 'CHANGE BEGINS WITH ME' campaign by the Federal Government, we were curious to know if the Nigerian youths understood the purpose of the campaign. Hence we researched, conducted a survey and interviewed over 2000 youths in different secondary schools and higher institutions in the country.

Surprisingly, after collating our results, we noticed that 80% of the youths interviewed were less informed and do not understand what the campaign meant, while 20% of those who were aware felt it was not meant for them but for the politicians.

Displeased with our findings, we designed and created a music programme called 'VERSUS CHANGE BEGINS WITH ME RAP CONTEST', a platform where rappers can talk about trending topical issues like; MADE IN NIGERIA GOODS, LAW and ORDER, ENTREPRENEURSHIP and so on as part of their lyrics.

As content creators, we have identified music as a major tool that can be used to attract youths to a particular campaign, hence with a positive music content like ours, we trust that it will lead to a positive change in the behaviors of the youths in the country.
