The Nigerian Institute of Journalism, (NIJ), Ogba,
Lagos, on Wednesday, matriculated 304 students for the 2016/ 2017 academic
session .
The students comprises of full-time and part-time of
the National Diploma, Higher National Diploma and Post Graduate Diploma studies
of the Institute.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Provost of the
Institute, Barrister Gbemiga Ogunleye, encouraged
the new students to remain true bona fide
students of the Institution who will defend the integrity of the
institution.
"To you matriculating students, remember that
you toiled and worked hard to secure this admission. Recall that not everybody
who applied for admission was given an offer.
"This is why you must work hard to guard the
admission jealously so that you do not lose it. This you can do by facing your
studies squarely avoiding everything that can bring you into confrontation with
authorities.
Ogunleye urged the matriculating students to 'realize
that genuine success can be achieved by dint of handbook. Any attempt to cut
corners to achieve success usually
results in disgrace', adding that
the students should be prepared to 'give it what it takes to achieve success',
the Provost said.
